A holistic approach to healthy living is essential to enhance our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Making a few changes in your daily life by working with a health coach can help you take care of your mind, body, and soul. However, the subject of health and wellness is shrouded in myths and misconceptions, which discourage people from using a holistic approach to healthy living and well-being. To help you separate fact from fiction and steer clear of these misconceptions, Mind, Body & Soul has debunked some of the most widely believed myths about health and wellness.

Myth 1: Our health is mostly determined by genetics.
This myth exists because most of us find it more convenient to believe that illness is caused by genetics, rather than through our own faults. I tell my clients that 95% of all illnesses are lifestyle-related, and therefore preventative. By making simple changes in your life, you can achieve major outcomes. One of them is reducing stress. The underlying cause of almost 80% of all diseases is stress.

Myth 2: Germs are a big threat to our health.
This is what society, and especially the pharmaceutical industry, has taught us. And since there is a lot of money in the business of selling pharmaceuticals, that message won’t change anytime soon. The idea is not to stay away from germs but to build up our immune system so that our body can do its job of keeping us healthy. Our bodies are amazing at keeping us healthy and healing as long ad we don’t compromise our immunity by eating highly-processed foods and refined sugars, or by living a life filled with stress, anxiety, and fear. By taking care of our mind, body, and soul, we can build up our immunity and naturally withstand illness.

Myth 3: Asking for help is a sign of weakness.
On the other hand, asking for help from a health coach is essential. With their experience and knowledge, they will help you make the right lifestyle and nutrition choices and help you boost your well-being and keep yourself healthy.
